Maybe you need more sleep. Photo by Lux Graves on Unsplash
I forgot to take my dog, Tessy to the vet this afternoon. I got all wound up about some banking I needed to do. I was excited about seeing a friend this afternoon. And I only got a little over 5 hours of sleep last night. That last thing I think is the most important factor in forgetting that appointment.
Last spring, for about a month I made sure I got 8 hours of sleep every night. I went to bed an hour earlier and I woke up half an hour later than I had been. I couldn’t believe how good I felt. I didn’t get frustrated as easily and generally had more energy. Over the summer I fell out of that routine and since August changes in my schedule have me waking up at 5. (That is, the alarm goes off at 5. And then again at 5:09. And again at 5:18.) When I get home, there’s always stuff I need and want to do and it’s easy to stay up too late. 6.5 hours more like what I usually get. I don’t think it’s enough.
So what’s the plan here?
I’ve noticed since I’ve started writing this blog, that if I write that I’m going to do something, I do it. So, I guess I’ll go back to what I was doing last spring. It worked well. Stay tuned for a more relaxed blogger whose dog shows up at the vet when expected. Tessy is thrilled.
