Body weight workouts can be more than enough work

“Um, this is hard,” I thought by the third time the yoga instructor on my streaming service added “just a little bit more to the sequence we’ve been doing.” It was a good practice with challenging moves that put me on my edge for sure. I enjoy weight workouts and sometimes need reminding that you don’t necessarily need all that stuff to get stronger. The weight of your body on its own can provide more than enough resistance. Another advantage is that you don’t need a whole lot of space to do a bodyweight workout.

If you’re looking for bodyweight workouts, I really like Mark Lauren’s work. I reviewed his book with Joshua Clark, Strong and Lean: 9 minute daily workouts to build your best body previously on this blog. Another book of his Body By You is a favorite of mine. I love mat Pilates and a good Pilates instructor is worth their weight in gold. It’s also a common misperception that yoga is all about flexibility. Many of the yoga poses are strength builders.
